AC Resonant Test Systems

AC resonant test systems are mainly used to output AC voltage for high voltage routine, type and development testing of capacitive test objects. These systems exert the principle of series resonance, as per f=1/2π√LC, the connection of HV reactors (inductance L) to a capacitive loads (capacitance C) form an oscillating circuit with the frequency (f) of power supply.

Compared to conventional AC test transformers, the relatively lower power required (1/Q), smaller dimension and lighter weight favor these systems as the most practical for field testing, and large capacitance loads.

FRST series variable frequency resonant test systems use HV reactors with fixed inductance, work by making reactors and capacitive test objects in series resonance by adjusting frequency of power supply to output pure sine wave AC voltage, typical frequency range is 20~300Hz.

FRST series HV reactors are of oil insulation and module type with cylinder insulated shell, voltage up to 2400kV.

These systems are ideal for field commissioning test of power cables and GIS/GIL.

Variable Inductance Resonant Test Systems
Variable Inductance Resonant Test Systems

IRST series variable inductance resonant test systems are designed to compensate capacitance in testing circuit precisely by adjusting inductance of HV reactors, and output continuous AC voltage of power frequency (mainly 50 or 60Hz, matches feed-in mains).

IRST series HV reactors are of oil insulation and module type with cylinder insulated shell, voltage up to 2000kV.

These systems offer significant advantages to standard AC test systems where the load is largely capacitive.

Tank type AC Resonant Test Systems

TRST series tank type AC resonant test systems are designed for high capacitance load, special for XLPE power cables. Also there are variable frequency type and variable inductance type.

TRST series tank type reactors are situated in an enclosed and earthed metal tank and filled with transformer insulation oil inside, additional voltage taps are possible, the output voltage is fed out through the tap-changers by HV bushings. These reactors extend application range, and satisfy testing for cables of various voltage classes.

SF6 Gas Insulated Resonant Test Systems
SF6 Gas Insulated Resonant Test System

GRST series SF6 gas insulated AC resonant test systems are especially designed for factory and field test of metal-clad switchgear (GIS), and substation equipments on-site testing. These systems can be flanged directly to GIS, they make testing of such installations possible without feeding them through an air-SF6 bushing. They can also be used for AC voltage test of other HV apparatus when equipped with output bushing.

In the factory, these systems allow to test sub-assemblies and components directly in the manufacturing line, thus avoiding transportation to a central test facility, and extra handling. Particularly they are suited for on-site tests of GIS after assembly.
